Back to Childhood

There’s a new “craze” that’s taking the world by storm.  Colouring.  Yes, clolouring.  Specifically colouring for adults.  I have to admit that this was something I’ve always enjoyed.  I love sitting and colouring with the kids.  It was one of the things I enjoyed most at work – I’m an Early Childhood Educator.  This has EXPLODED over the past few months though.  You can find adult colouring books almost every where – Chapters, Michael’s, Amazon and more.

So why is this becoming such a “thing” lately?  Many people are colouring to reduce stress, anxiety, help with PTSD and more.  Not to mention that it’s relatively cheap to start this hobby.  You can grab a pack of basic pencil crayons at the dollar store and there are free printables ALL over the place.  I’ve even started a Pinterest Board for them.  Facebook has a bunch of groups as well.  Many of these groups also offer free printables. If you are looking for a group to join, be sure to check this one out – even if you’re not local, all are welcome.

I challenge you to find a page this week to print out and colour.  Make yourself find the time – even only 15 minutes one day and sit and colour.  See if it helps relax you at all.  🙂

Getting Crafty

Confession – I may be a bit of a hoarder when it comes to paper crafting supplies. But please don’t tell my husband I admitted that though. While I do admit that, I also know that I have NOTHING on some other paper crafters.

It’s been such a long time since I’ve created anything. Mostly because I was too uncomfortable to sit at my desk to work while I was pregnant. I spent some time there yesterday and while I was deciding which photos I wanted to scrap, I looked through all of my pre-made pages.

There’s another confession – I create many things, but don’t seem to use them all. Here’s a sample of what I’m talking about. This container is a few inches deep and is FULL of pre-made layouts. All I need to do is add pictures. I spread some of them out on the floor so you could see what I mean. At one point I counted about 50 layouts in there all ready to go. And I have more stashed somewhere else.

So I decided that perhaps I should use some of these up yesterday rather than start to create more only to put them away again. Here’s one that I used. Now I feel like I need to be honest with you. I created this layout about 5 years ago. Yes you read that right – 5 years. I was pregnant with my daughter at the time and remember thinking it would be great to use with baby pictures – whether baby was a girl or a boy.

I now feel like I’ve started to make a dent in things (a very small dent), but I’m looking forward to starting to tackle my bag of partially finished cards next.
